วันปีใหม่ในสายตา ของนักปฏิบัติธรรมจะมองว่า อายุของเราเพิ่มขึ้นอีก ๑ ปี ความชรานำเราใกล้เข้าไปสู่ความตายเร็วขึ้น วันคืนล่วงไปๆ บัดนี้เราทำอะไรอยู่ บารมี อะไรที่ยังพร่องอยู่ก็จะเร่งสร้างให้เต็มที่ บุญชนิดไหนที่ทำมาเป็นประจำจะขวนขวายให้ยิ่งๆ ขึ้นไป เราจะไม่ประมาทในวัยและชีวิต หรือสิ่งใดที่เคยประพฤติผิดพลาดพลั้งไปในปีเก่าที่ผ่านมา ก็จะปรับ ปรุงแก้ไขตนเองให้ดีขึ้น เพื่อก้าวสู่ชีวิตใหม่ในศักราชใหม่ ให้เป็นศักราชชัยแห่งคุณงามความดี เป็น อารยชนผู้ทำตนให้บริสุทธิ์ผุดผ่อง แก่บุญแก่บารมียิ่งๆ ขึ้นไป
